WE DID IT!

When I look back on the last 2 years it's sometimes hard to believe I've gotten this far. I've done a lot, and seen a lot. From potential law suits to empty bank accounts this journey with Kahmune has been nothing short of eventful. A year ago I was broke and considering shutting it all down. Now, we have a Kahmunity of almost 15,000 and more demand than I can keep up with!

If you think you can't, you most likely can. If you think it's not for you, go for it anyway. As women, we tend to do more thinking, and at times OVER-thinking, than our male counterparts. It's been statistically proven that women are less likely to strive to attain high leadership roles. I don't know about you, but I know I'd love to see a world where more women are tasked with making high level decisions in both business and politics. Too many times we sell ourselves short instead of reaching for the clouds. I almost missed out on the most amazing opportunity of my startup journey so far last month because I assumed before I had even tried that I wasn't going to get it. As some of you may know, last month I applied for the first ever Female Founder competition held in partnership with Uber and GirlBoss. There were over 2500 applicants from across the nation and guess who made the top 5 finalists? I DID!!! Now, I know our Kahmunity understands what I'm trying to do, but, to have executives at UBER (!!!) and GirlBoss recognize the importance of our mission has been so validating for me. I get it., you get it, but it was confirmation that larger brands and women from all walks of life agree that this whole "nude" thing is an issue worth fighting!

The other 4 finalists and I were invited to pitch at the GirlBoss rally in New York on November 17th and 18th in front of an amazing panel of 5 female judges. The stakes? 3 of the 5 would be chosen for cash prizes and mentorship with the judges. It was a week of very little sleep for me but you know I had to come correct and I'm so happy to share that I WON!

AND!

On top of all of that I got to meet and get interviewed by one of my greatest girl crushes: Kahlana Barfield, formerly of InStyle Magazine. It was a GOOD weekend!

I say this all to say DON'T GIVE UP! The road may be long, but it will certainly be worth it in the end. If you're thinking of starting a new venture, do it! Applying for a new role or asking for a promotion? Why not?? We're our own worst enemy sometimes. The worst that happens is you get a "no" and then keep going until you get that "yes." Trust me, I've gotten more "no's" over the course of Kahmune than you could imagine but this "yes" from Uber and GirlBoss was everything I needed to end my 2018 on an amazing note.

I'm so excited to really be able to grow the brand in 2019. I will be releasing a new sandal for spring and if i get enough feedback I'm open to keeping Lucy in our collection. Will also be re-branding to solidify Kahmune as a TRUE luxury brand to watch and hope to add some new members to the team. Who knows, we may even be adding a new product or two..... keep reading these emails so you don't miss out :)

In preparation for this, for the month of December I will be turning Kahmune's social media into my personal look-book of sorts. I've realised I don't show you all nearly enough pictures of not only me in the shoes but how I envision the Kahmunity wearing them so if you're not following the brand on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter already do so now for some serious outfit inspo! Perfect time with the holidays coming up!
