As I'm sure many of my fellow entrepreneurs can allude to starting a business is no easy feat. Starting a fashion business? That's a whole other story! Of all retail business streams, it has been said that footwear is the hardest industry to master. To add to that, a whopping 20% of all new businesses fail in their first year, and having just passed the one year mark I'm happy to say Kahmune has beat that statistic.
The last few months have been nothing short of amazing. After a successful US launch in NYC back in April, I've since gone on to throw events in Washington D.C. and Los Angeles. As an e-commerce brand, so many of my interactions with you all have been limited to social media or emails so I've loved finally getting to meet some of you in person!
Your feedback has been invaluable. Your commentary never gets old. Some of my most recent highlights were an Instagram post about receiving some Afua Sandals and getting a new pedicure to wear them and an email I received about a customer being so excited to finally have found true nude heels that she proceeded to dance around her office in her Becky Pumps. I love it all!
Amongst all of the highs and lows of this journey, the production delays and the hours spent doing inventory, I've felt a distinct sense of pride this week. Most days I get so caught up in running a business that I forget to take a second to remember WHY I'm running this business. I was reminded this week as I was overseeing orders and took a second to reread the "welcome" that customers receive with their orders.
Was it just me, or were you also struck with a strong sense of pride after reading this. It's true! We all deserve to have something made for us. And we all deserve to feel good in the skin we're in. Not only am I proud of the product I've created, I'm proud of the community I've built, WE'VE BUILT, over the last 18 months. I'm proud of what we stand for and I'm excited to see the ways in which we're able to grow in coming months.
As part of this growth, I will now be writing monthly, sometimes bimonthly newsletters to give you all updates and share my thoughts on what's going on in the world of fashion and beauty. This is my first one, so go easy on me :)
Happy Friday! Hope you all enjoy your weekend whenever you're spending it.

We don't want to call it a kitten BUT the newest Becky Pump has arrived. It's our lowest heel height yet at just 70mm/2.5 in. Let us know what you think! Check if we have your size and shade in stock HERE!
