Pride.
As I'm sure many of my fellow entrepreneurs can allude to starting a business is no easy feat. Starting a fashion business? That's a whole other story! Of all retail business streams, it has been said that footwear is the hardest industry to master. To add to that, a whopping 20% of all new businesses fail in their first year, and having just passed the one year mark I'm happy to say Kahmune has beat that statistic.
The last few months have been nothing short of amazing. After a successful US launch in NYC back in April, I've since gone on to throw events in Washington D.C. and Los Angeles. As an e-commerce brand, so many of my interactions with you all have been limited to social media or emails so I've loved finally getting to meet some of you in person!
Your feedback has been invaluable. Your commentary never gets old. Some of my most recent highlights were an Instagram post about receiving some Afua Sandals and getting a new pedicure to wear them and an email I received about a customer being so excited to finally have found true nude heels that she proceeded to dance around her office in her Becky Pumps. I love it all!
Amongst all of the highs and lows of this journey, the production delays and the hours spent doing inventory, I've felt a distinct sense of pride this week. Most days I get so caught up in running a business that I forget to take a second to remember WHY I'm running this business. I was reminded this week as I was overseeing orders and took a second to reread the "welcome" that customers receive with their orders.
